About our new tohu
The mark expresses the new direction of the gallery – a bold and timeless statement. The crossbar on the ‘G’ suggests a brush stroke and infuses energy.
More importantly it references our river.
Waimakariri in Māori means cold water, hence the blue.
The accompanying text places the gallery in Oxford and the by-line toi o (art of) Waimakariri gives the gallery a wider regional reach.
